“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand.”
– Isaiah 41:10
Such a sweet reminder in these difficult times. Often times we find ourselves struggling to grasp a full understanding of God’s plan for us and our country. It is imperative that we remember that He is in control, always.
I know this is a difficult time for all of us – especially our small businesses. As of Monday, Oklahoma has 81 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Most restaurants and entertainment venues in Oklahoma City and surrounding communities have closed. I have always been an advocate of small business and want to urge you as best as you can safely to “buy local.” For shops, that may mean buying a gift certificate online if you can. As for our restaurants, treat yourself to takeout orders, food delivery or gift certificates.
As far as medical help, if you or a loved one are not feeling well, here is a very helpful visual resource to help diagnose your symptoms.
On that note, I ask that we remember our healthcare workers and first responders on the frontlines of the Coronavirus epidemic. Let’s all send up some extra prayers for them. And if you have a friend or family member in the medical profession, send them a message of encouragement and appreciation. This is, without a doubt, one of the most difficult times of their career.
And if you’re one of our healthcare workers, be advised that the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City is offering daily, weekday child care to parents who are first responders or work in health care, core services or the Oklahoma State Department of Health who are required to work and do not have access to other care amid the COVID-19 coronavirus crisis.
I have no doubt we will make it through this together and come out on the other side better and stronger as a state and as individuals.
Lifting you and your family up in prayer for your safety, health and well-being.
